The Grass Room in downtown serves up some classic Los Angeles vibes with a tropical twist!

Some couples are just meant to be, even if the timing requires a little more patience. Natra and Blaine went on not one, not two, but three first dates over a period of years between career moves and new cities that kept pulling them apart and bringing them back together again. Their Grass Room DTLA wedding was a celebration of everything that makes love special: the friends and roommates who witnessed every chapter of their story, the family members who traveled from halfway across the world to see them tie the knot, and sweet reminders in every toast that sometimes love is asking more than once for a chance to share your life with someone special.

The Grass Room DTLA Gives a Historic Building a New Lease on Life

The backdrop for Natra and Blaine’s romantic DTLA nuptials is the effortlessly Boho chic Grass Room, a 6,000-square-foot greenhouse wedding venue and event space in the North Sea Neighborhood of downtown Los Angeles. An intimate space with loads of personality, Grass Room features a flowing site plan that is perfect for sun-dappled ceremonies and receptions, parties, film screenings and memorable corporate events. Built in the 1920’s in an area that has long served as the city’s seafood market on the east side of Downtown, the building has lived many lives in its century of use. It’s been a fish and oyster company, an ice cream factory and a commercial site for everything from far east imports to marijuana cultivation. This quirky history subtly informed their transformation of the space.

Explore Outside Your Venue at Sunset!

Don’t be afraid to leave your wedding venue during romantics, especially if the newlyweds opted not to have a first look before the ceremony! Taking a beat during cocktail hour gives them an opportunity to step away from guests who will all want to stop and immediately congratulate them, and instead lets the couple have a moment to just soak in some of the moment. Luckily for us The Grass Room is situated right in downtown which gave us walking access to use the DTLA skyline as a backdrop by just stepping outside the venue, and it ensured Natra and Blaine got a brief moment all to themselves before jumping back into their festivities!
